Mohammad Zakir Hossain

Mohammad Zakir Hossain is an Islamic scholar, journalist, and researcher with nearly three decades of international experience spanning Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye. He is the Founder Chairman of the Al-Ummah Foundation and Editor-in-Chief of the Al-Ummah Journal. He worked as an editor with Daily Sabah until recently.
Hossain has held a range of prominent roles, including English teacher at the Bangladesh Embassy School in Makkah, broadcaster with Saudi Radio in Jeddah, International Coordinator at the Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT), and editor of the Muslim World League Journal in Makkah. His work bridges Islamic scholarship, international journalism, and policy discourse, with a particular focus on contemporary Muslim societies. Hossain is also the founder chairman of the Allama Tazammul Hossain Khan Foundation.
He spent more than 27 years with the Muslim World League in Makkah, contributing to its major publications, including the MWL Journal and The Muslim World Weekly, in various editorial and research capacities.
Hossain holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Dhaka and Bangladesh Islami University, respectively. He also pursued advanced studies in Hadith and Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) at Government Alia Madrasah in Dhaka, along with specialized training in journalism, media communication, and language studies through institutions affiliated with the Muslim World League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
A multilingual professional, he is fluent in English, Arabic, Bangla, Urdu, Hindi, and Turkish, and has contributed to numerous international media outlets through writing, editing, translation, and interviews.

Masumur Rahman Khalili
Editorial Board
Masumur Rahman Khalili is a senior journalist, policy analyst, and editor with more than three decades of experience in economic reporting and public policy analysis in Bangladesh. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Al-Ummah Foundation and oversees the Bangla editions of its website and the Al-Ummah Journal.
Khalili specializes in economic policy, international affairs, energy, banking, and development issues. He currently serves as Executive Editor of Daily Naya Diganta, where he leads editorial strategy and supervises opinion and analytical content on national and global affairs. Earlier, he held key editorial positions—including Deputy Editor, News Editor, and Chief Reporter—contributing extensively to policy-oriented journalism. He previously worked with The Daily Inqilab, The Daily Dinkal, and Daily Sangram, focusing on economic reform, financial systems, and governance.
Khalili is a regular commentator on political, economic, and international issues. He has also translated major global works into Bengali, including The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama. He holds an MS in Mass Communication and Journalism from the National University of Bangladesh, as well as an MA and BA (Honours) in Political Science from the University of Chittagong. He is a permanent member of the National Press Club and has held leadership roles in professional bodies such as the Economic Reporters Forum and the Parliament Journalists Association.

Mohammad Nasir Jawed
Editorial Board
Mohammad Nasir Jawed is a senior journalist and writer with more than 25 years of experience across international media, research institutions, and communication platforms. He is a member of the Editorial Board of
the Al-Ummah Foundation and contributes to the English editions of its website and the Al-Ummah Journal. Nasir has built a reputation for analytical reporting and research-driven writing on global affairs, culture, and social developments. He worked extensively with Arab News, where he contributed in-depth reports, interviews, and columns on business and international affairs for over a decade.
Earlier, he spent nearly ten years working with leading English-language newspapers in India in various editorial roles. Nasir has authored and produced a wide range of publications, from press materials to major research-based works. Among his most notable contributions is the Yearbook of the Muslim World, a comprehensive 774-page reference work compiling data and analysis on Muslim societies worldwide. He is currently associated with the Center for Public Diplomacy at Prince Sultan University in Riyadh, where he contributes to research, media outreach, and communication initiatives related to diplomacy and global engagement.
