The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of a resolution allowing the State of Palestine to participate in its 81st session via a pre-recorded message. The resolution follows the illegal decision by the United States to prevent the Palestinian delegation from participating in person, in violation of Palestine's internationally guaranteed rights.

The General Secretariat affirmed that the support of 152 countries for the resolution reflects the international community's commitment to the State of Palestine's right to participate, as well as its respect for international law and the obligations of the host country. It called on the United States to reverse its decision, which contravenes the UN Headquarters Agreement, the UN Charter, and relevant UN resolutions.

The General Secretariat reiterated its commitment to continuing its active engagement during the General Assembly meetings and High-Level Week in support of the rights of the Palestinian people, wider recognition of the State of Palestine, and Palestine's full membership in the United Nations.
